Are the borders secure? – Hezbollah in Mexico

Last week I came across an interesting article which quoted Rep. Sue Myrick who suspects Islamic terrorists to join forces with the drug cartels and try to enter the United States through Mexico. She requests a special task force of the Department of Homeland Security to investigate the issue further.
As a member of the House Committee on Intelligence, she presumes Iranian funded Hezbollah partnering up with the cartels in Mexico to smuggle terrorists, weapons and explosives into the country.
Now with the new immigration law in Arizona, the federal government is under pressure to secure the U.S.-Mexican boundary. The possibility of terrorists entering the United States makes this matter even more urgent.

The topic made me think about the northern borderline toward Canada and which role the infamous world’s longest undefended border plays in efforts of terrorists to get into the United States. Besides attempts to tighten security right after 9/11 it is still way easier to cross the border into the U.S. from Canada than from Mexico.
So I asked myself why the DHS neglects the northern border.

This is just the beginning of a series of posts about the dangers of Islamic extremists coming to the U.S. from the north.
To give you an idea of what the threats are:
1) Canada has a very liberal visa policy.
2) The border is 3.987 miles long.
3) Very close to Washington, D.C. and New York.

Those aspects and many more define how easy it is to smuggle terrorists into the United States, so keep up with it and expect the next part soon.
