Hillary Clinton done with elected office – or is she?

Will she run for president in 2012 and challenge President Barack Obama once again? Hillary Clinton’s ambitions for the presidential office are probably the most hotly debated question at the moment. During an interview at FOX News she stated, that she would not run for office again. Still this topic is more interesting than ever. Some even expect her to never run for president again.

Since Bob Woodward kicked off rumors about Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton switching places for the 2012 election, many different scenarios were debated in the media. In a recent interview, Clinton tried to deny that she has aspirations for elective office. Despite all denial, I am not slightly convinced that this is the last we will hear from her.

Take a look at the Transcript of the interview:

WALLACE: Secretary, one final question. You made some news recently in Australia when you ruled out running again for office in 2012 and 2016. Why?
CLINTON: Well, first of all, I love what I’m doing. I can’t tell you what it’s like, Chris, to every day get to represent the United States, and it’s why I feel so strongly about every issue from, you know, START to Afghanistan.
WALLACE: But are you — are you categorically saying that you are done with political office …
CLINTON: I — I have said …
WALLACE: … elected office?
CLINTON: I have said it over and over again, and I’m happy to say it on your show as well. I am committed to doing what I can to advance the security, the interests and the values of the United States of America.
I believe that what I’m doing right now is in furtherance of that, and I’m very proud and grateful to be doing it.
WALLACE: So you’re done with elective office?
CLINTON: I am. I am very happy doing what I’m doing, and I am not in any way interested in or pursuing anything in elective office.

I am sure that she will not challenge Obama in 2012, just because the job as Secretary of State suits her so well. But take a look at how she always ties her lack of ambitions for elective office to her current job. This sounds like she already has something in the works for 2016. Especially when you think about how much she invested into her presidential campaign, nobody will buy her change of heart.
